Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Gua Sha can help with:

  • Relieving muscle and joint pain
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Improving circulation
  • Relieving tension headaches and migraines
  • Enhancing lymphatic drainage
  • Improving skin tone and elasticity (facial Gua Sha)

Gua Sha is generally not painful. You may feel a firm pressure or mild discomfort, but the treatment should not be painful. Some redness or light bruising may occur, which is normal and temporary.

No, Gua Sha can be used on the face, neck, back, shoulders, and other areas of the body depending on the condition being treated.

A typical Gua Sha session lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the purpose of the therapy.

Some people may experience temporary redness, slight bruising, or soreness in the treated area. These effects usually subside within a few days.

For general wellness or facial rejuvenation, 1–2 sessions per week may be recommended initially. For pain relief or chronic conditions, your therapist may suggest a personalized schedule.

Most people can safely receive Gua Sha. However, it may not be suitable for those with bleeding disorders, active skin infections, open wounds, or if pregnant without medical clearance.

After Gua Sha, it’s advised to drink plenty of water, rest, and avoid intense physical activity for a few hours. Avoid exposing the treated area to cold drafts or extreme temperatures.
